| Commemorating the Seventieth Anniversary of D-Day. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize the Seventieth Anniversary of D-Day; and |
| WHEREAS, On June 6, 1944, 150,000 Allied soldiers landed in Normandy, France, marking a turning point in World War II that led to the defeat of the Axis powers, and this land, air, and sea invasion became known as D-Day. The anniversary of D-Day is an appropriate time to pay tribute to those individuals who have answered this nation's call to arms and who have made great sacrifices in service, even giving of their own lives, to protect the interests of the United States of America and our allies; and |
| WHEREAS, It is imperative that we openly acknowledge our debt to those who bear our country's standard with courage, dignity, and decency through their military service. The veterans of D-Day and World War II effectively combined courage with tremendous strength and resolve during their loyal service in our country's armed forces and demonstrated an unwavering dedication to fulfilling their myriad duties with the utmost efficiency and competence; and |
| WHEREAS, The heroic traditions of our armed forces are an important part of our country's heritage. By giving willingly of their time, energy, and abilities to protect our nation, the veterans of D-Day and World War II earned the respect and admiration of all those with whom they served and the gratitude of Americans everywhere. They are truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Seventieth Anniversary of D-Day and salute all those taking part in this observance; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio. |
