| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Maria Horrigan on winning the 2014 Division I State Championship in the pole vault; and |
| WHEREAS, A junior at Bowling Green High School, Maria Horrigan has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly exceptional athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field, and as a result, she won the Division I State Championship title in the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet, 10.25 inches; and |
| WHEREAS, Maria Horrigan's accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of competition, are a justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her coaches, Joe Hudok and Duff Madaras, her school, and her community. Her unwavering commitment to excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of many, and she is certainly worthy of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Maria Horrigan on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in track and field will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Maria Horrigan on her personal success and salute her as one of Ohio's finest young citizens; and be it further |
