| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team on placing second at the 2013 Division I State Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, The Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team is to be applauded, for throughout their season, the Golden Bears have epitomized the speed, agility, stamina, and skill that befit remarkable athletes. Their victories over a host of talented opponents underscore the athletic prowess and indomitable spirit of every member of the squad, and it is no surprise that their maturity and determination have earned them so many admirers; and |
| WHEREAS, Under the expert guidance of Coach Dan Peterkoski, these gifted athletes have diligently applied themselves to the quest for excellence in the pool, devoting countless hours to rigorous training in order to ensure peak conditioning. Clearly, this demanding regimen has paid handsome dividends, as the Golden Bears earned 215 points to place second at this year's Division I State Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through their participation in sports, the members of the Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team have learned lessons of perseverance and hard work that will certainly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team as the 2013 Division I State runner-up and salute its members and coach as fine Ohioans; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving team. |
