| Honoring the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County on the auspicious occasion of its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary, celebrated February 16, 2013; and |
| WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, for throughout its history, this fine institution has attained a praiseworthy record of service to the area. Since its inception in 1888, the library has fostered education, culture, and individual growth and achievement by providing a variety of innovative and beneficial programs and services; and |
| WHEREAS, Public libraries play an important role in today's society, serving as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and ideas. They provide a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and intellectual development for all individuals, and as repositories for the best of our nation's intellectual endeavors, they are vital to the preservation of our country's heritage, principles, and ideals; and |
| WHEREAS, As a focal point for many local activities and as a valuable instrument for community improvement, the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County has earned the respect and appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example of service worthy of emulation. We are proud to note that it is through the efforts of agencies such as this that our state has maintained its reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to live and work; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further |
