| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Miami University Hamilton women's basketball team as the 2013 Ohio Regional Campus State Champion; and |
| WHEREAS, Each member of the Miami University Hamilton women's basketball team is an excellent young athlete, and Coach Chris Settle has demonstrated remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and dedication in guiding this squad to victory. This season, the Lady Harriers bested the team from Miami University Middletown by a score of 92-63 to secure the 2013 Ohio Regional Campus State Championship and compiled a 24-2 record. The unwavering commitment of the members and their coach has earned them this prestigious distinction, and they are certainly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Miami University Hamilton women's basketball team have established themselves as a truly exceptional squad, and they have emerged as winners both in and out of athletic competition. Chris Settle's skill as a coach is reflected in their outstanding success, and due largely to his tireless efforts, he has earned the respect and admiration of all who know him; and |
| WHEREAS, In an educational system that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a valuable educational tool. Through their participation in sports, team members Lela Colvin, Jackie Russell, Jordan Andrews, Celeste Connell, Kara Gasson, Deja Horne, Amanda Hobbs, Dawn Pickens, Myiesha Cooper, Rachael Smith, Demetria Haynes, Tyeisha Mitchell, Theresa Carmichael, Javonna Sadler, and Taylor Frazier have learned lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to them throughout their lives; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 130th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Miami University Hamilton women's basketball team on winning the 2013 Ohio Regional Campus State Championship title and salute all those who contributed to the success of this fine squad; and be it further |
