A BILL
To enact section 4507.062 of the Revised Code to1
establish that any applicant for a driver's2
license, permit, or identification card under3
twenty-six years of age who is required to4
register with the Selective Service System is5
deemed to have given consent for the Bureau of6
Motor Vehicles to forward the necessary7
registration information to the Selective Service8
System and to require the Bureau to submit the9
applicable information to the Selective Service10
System.11


BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

       Section 1.  That section 4507.062 of the Revised Code be12
enacted to read as follows:13

       Sec. 4507.062.  (A) As used in this section, "license"14
includes a driver's license, commercial driver's license,15
temporary instruction permit, or identification card.16

       (B) Any person under twenty-six years of age who is required17
to register with the selective service system in accordance with18
the "Military Selective Service Act of 1967," 81 Stat. 100, 5019
U.S.C. App. 451 et seq., as amended, upon submission of an20
application for issuance or renewal of a license is deemed to have21
given consent for the bureau of motor vehicles to forward to the22
selective service system the necessary information for such23
registration.24

       (C) Upon receipt of an application for issuance or renewal of25
a license from any person under twenty-six years of age who is26
required to register with the selective service system, the bureau27
shall forward to the selective service system in an electronic28
format the personal information necessary for such registration.29

       (D) Every application for a license shall state that30
submission of the application will serve as the applicant's31
consent to registration with the selective service system, if so32
required by federal law.33


       (E) The bureau may accept money from the selective service35
system to pay any costs that the bureau incurs in implementing36
this section.37

       Section 2.  Section 4507.062 of the Revised Code, as enacted38
by this act, shall take effect six months after the effective date39
of this act.40
