A BILL
To amend sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the Revised Code to require that the township clerk personally attend meetings of the board of township trustees, to set a minimum amount for the township clerk's bond, and to require that township records be kept at the township hall or the board's meeting place.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the Revised Code be amended to read as follows:
Sec. 507.03. The township clerk, before entering upon the discharge of
his official
duties, shall give a bond, payable to the board of township trustees, with
sureties approved by such the board, and in such a sum as it determines determined by the board, which sum shall be not less than twenty per cent of the township's annual budget, conditioned
for the faithful performance of his the duties as of the office of township clerk.
Such This bond shall be
recorded by the clerk, filed with the county treasurer, and carefully
preserved.
Sec. 507.04. (A) The township clerk shall keep an accurate record of the
proceedings of the board of township trustees at all its meetings, and of all
its accounts and transactions, including the acceptance of the bonds of
township officers. The clerk shall personally attend all meetings of the board unless excused by the board from attending or prevented by the occurrence of an emergency. (B) All public records, including all financial records, of the township shall be kept in the township hall or in the place where the board of township trustees generally holds its meetings.
Section 2. That existing sections 507.03 and 507.04 of the Revised Code are hereby repealed.
