A BILL
To direct the General Assembly's deliberations to modify the state public school accountability system.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. In its deliberations to modify the state public school accountability system to comply with the "No Child Left Behind Act of 2001," 115 Stat. 1425, 20 U.S.C. 6301 et seq., the General Assembly shall do each of the following:
(A) Redesign the state system of achievement testing to require annual assessments in reading and mathematics for each of grades three through eight;
(B) Examine methods to develop a value-added accountability system that provides information on individual student achievement as well as school and district performance over time;
(C) Provide for the disaggregation of student performance data in compliance with federal law;
(D) Ensure that adequate yearly progress is defined and implemented appropriately in accordance with federal law.
