A BILL
To enact section 5.2267 of the Revised Code to
designate March 30 as "Vietnam Veterans' Day," and
to declare an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 5.2267 of the Revised Code be enacted
to read as follows:
Sec. 5.2267. The thirtieth day of March is designated as
"Vietnam Veterans' Day" in honor of those who fought, died, or are
still unaccounted for in the Vietnam war.
Section 2. This act is declared to be an emergency measure
necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace,
health, and safety. The reason for the emergency is the fact that
veterans who served in the Vietnam conflict have not received
their full share of recognition, and immediate enactment will
allow for commemorations on March 30, 2012, in recognition of
March 30, 1973, the day when all United States troops withdrew
from Vietnam. Therefore, this act goes into immediate effect.
