BILL SUMMARY

·        Designates the portion of State Route 2, running in an easterly and westerly direction within Cuyahoga County only, as the "Carl B. Stokes Memorial Highway" and authorizes the Director of Transportation to erect suitable markers along the highway indicating its name.

COMMENT

Carl B. Stokes (1927-1996) was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1962, 1964, and 1966; was elected mayor of Cleveland in 1967 and was reelected in 1969; served as a municipal court judge from 1983-1994; and was appointed by President Clinton as ambassador to the Seychelles in 1994.
