BILL SUMMARY

·        Formally states the General Assembly's intent to revise Ohio's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Law to provide increased protection and security for the state's residents from sex offenders and child-victim offenders and to conform that Law to recently enacted requirements of federal law contained in the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006.

CONTENT AND OPERATION

The bill consists of a statement of the General Assembly in which it states that it is setting forth its intent to revise Ohio's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Law to provide increased protection and security for the state's residents from persons who have been convicted of, or found to be delinquent children for committing, a sexually oriented offense or a child-victim oriented offense and to conform the provisions of that Law to recently enacted requirements of federal law contained in the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 (Section 1).  A new version of the bill containing substantive changes to Ohio's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Law will be substituted for this formal statement of intent during the legislative process.
