BILL SUMMARY

· Designates the portion of Interstate Route 71 within Middleburg Heights only the "Corporal Brad D. Squires Memorial Highway."

CONTENT AND OPERATION

Current law designates Interstate Route 71 running from Cleveland to Cincinnati the "Disabled American Veterans' Highway" (sec. 5533.32, not in the bill). The bill provides that in addition to this existing designation, the portion of I-71 located within the municipal corporation of Middleburg Heights only also is to be known as the "Corporal Brad D. Squires Memorial Highway" (sec. 5533.331).

The Director of Transportation is permitted to erect suitable markers along that portion of I-71 indicating its name.

COMMENT

Brad D. Squires, from Middleburg Heights, was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was killed in Iraq on June 9, 2005.
