·         Designates September as "Pain Awareness Month."

CONTENT AND OPERATION

Pain awareness month

(R.C. 5.2266; Section 2)

The bill designates the month of September as "Pain Awareness Month" to raise public awareness and understanding of physical pain and pain management.  The bill specifies that the General Assembly, in making this declaration, does the following:

(1)  Recognizes that tens of millions of Americans are affected by physical pain, and that untreated or inadequately treated pain can diminish sufferers' quality of life and result in economic loss to Ohio through medical expenses, lost wages, reduced productivity, and other costs; and

(2)  Considers increasing public awareness of physical pain and promoting access to appropriate pain treatment vital to reducing suffering and removing barriers to pain-free living.
