CONTENT AND OPERATION
The bill directs the State Board of Education to recommend to the General Assembly performance standards for dropout prevention and recovery programs operated by school districts.[1] The recommendations are due by one year after the bill's effective date. (Section 1 of the bill.)

[1] At its March 2008 meeting, the State Board approved legislative recommendations for performance standards for community (charter) schools that operate dropout prevention and recovery programs and that are exempt from the existing requirement for community schools with consistently poor academic performance to close (see R.C. 3314.35 and 3314.36, neither section in the bill).
