BILL SUMMARY

·         Adopts the Ohio Tartan as the official tartan of the state.

·         Describes the Ohio Tartan by specifying the complete pattern it exhibits and the meaning of the colors represented.

CONTENT AND OPERATION

The bill adopts the Ohio Tartan as the official tartan of the state.  It states that the tartan exhibits the following complete pattern:  six red, sixteen green, two azure, six blue, two azure, eighteen gold, six blue, eighteen gold, two azure, six blue, two azure, sixteen red, six white.  The bill states that the colors represent the following:  (1) red is taken from the official flag of the state and represents the official bird, the cardinal, (2) green and gold are taken from the great seal of the state and represent the state's leadership in agriculture, (3) azure is taken from the great seal of the state and represents the eight individuals from the state who served as president of the United States, (4) blue is taken from the official flag of the state and represents the waters of the state, from the Ohio River to Lake Erie.
