· The bill requires the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to post information on its web site to promote complex regional pain syndrome education. The bill specifies what the information is to include and requires ODH to notify boards of health, hospitals, clinics, etc. about the availability of this information. According to ODH, costs would be incurred for the review of these educational materials, the posting of the materials, and notification to the entities previously described. ODH estimates the cost to be between $500 to $1,000 in the first year. In subsequent years, there could be negligible costs related to updates to the materials and web site.

Detailed Fiscal Analysis
The bill designates November as "Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Awareness Month" to promote public awareness of complex regional pain syndrome, also known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome. This designation requires no specific action on the part of state or local entities. Thus, there will be no direct fiscal impacts.
The bill also requires ODH to include information regarding this syndrome on its web site. ODH is required to notify boards of health, hospitals, clinics, and other health care providers about the availability of information. ODH anticipates that the educational materials relating to the syndrome may be provided by an association that deals specifically with this syndrome. If these materials are provided to ODH, costs would be incurred for the review of these educational materials, the posting of the materials, and notification to the entities described. ODH estimates the cost to be between $500 to $1,000 in the first year. Costs would increase if ODH had to create the educational materials themselves. In subsequent years, there could be negligible costs for updates to the material, as well as possible renotification. Since the bill does not require any action on the part of local governmental entities (i.e., boards of health or public hospitals) concerning this information, there should be no direct fiscal impact to them.
