Amendments adopted by the Senate committee make changes to several provisions of the bill.  The amendments clarify that the bill's requirements apply to schools operated by boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities, require the Director of Health to adopt rules establishing minimum standards and procedures for School Health and Safety Network inspections not later than 18 months after the bill's effective date, and make technical amendments.  With the amendments, the bill does the following:

Types of schools to which inspection requirements apply

            Clarifies that schools operated by boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities must comply with the bill's requirements, including the requirements that the school submit to Network inspections and develop a plan for abatement of dangerous conditions.

Rulemaking deadline

            Requires the Director of Health to adopt rules establishing minimum standards and procedures for Network inspections not later than 18 months after the bill's effective date. 

Technical changes

            Makes technical changes to the bill.
