A BILL
To enact section 3345.023 of the Revised Code to prohibit state institutions of higher education from requiring a student to purchase the institution's health insurance plan.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 3345.023 of the Revised Code be enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 3345.023.  No board of trustees, officer, or employee of a state institution of higher education, as defined in section 3345.011 of the Revised Code, shall require an individual to purchase the student health insurance policy or student health care benefits plan offered by the institution as a condition of enrolling in the institution or as a condition of admission to student housing, as long as the individual provides to the institution written proof that the individual is covered by another health insurance policy or health care benefits plan owned by either the individual or the individual's spouse, parent, guardian, or custodian, regardless of the amount of coverage or the amount of deductible prescribed in the policy or plan owned by the individual or the individual's spouse, parent, guardian, or custodian.
