A BILL
To enact section 4501.026 of the Revised Code to
require the registrar of motor vehicles and deputy
registrars to inquire about an individual's
veteran status, and, if given permission, to
forward the veteran's personal information to the
director of veterans services.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 4501.026 of the Revised Code be
enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 4501.026. The registrar of motor vehicles or a deputy
registrar shall ask an individual with whom the registrar or
deputy registrar conducts a motor vehicle or driver's license
transaction if the individual is a veteran. If the individual
claims to be a veteran, the registrar or deputy registrar shall
ask permission from the individual to send the individual's name,
veteran status, address, telephone number, and e-mail address to
the director of veterans services in
order for the director to
seek out veterans benefits and services
for that individual and
for the state. If the individual agrees to
have the information
sent to the director of veterans services,
the registrar or
deputy registrar shall so send the information.
