A BILL
To enact section 5902.10 of the Revised Code to
require the Governor to issue an official notice
of the death of an Ohio resident killed by hostile
fire as a member of the United States armed forces
or the National Guard
and to order the lowering of
flags on the day of
the person's funeral.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That section 5902.10 of the Revised Code be
enacted to read as follows:
Sec. 5902.10. The director of veterans services shall notify
the governor whenever the director becomes aware that a person who
is an Ohio resident and who is a member of the armed forces of the
United States or the national guard has been killed by hostile
fire. Upon receipt of such a notice, the governor shall order that
all state agencies and political subdivisions of this state fly at
half-staff on the day of that person's funeral the United States
flag, the flag of this state, and any relevant military flag, if
the state agency or political subdivision possesses such a flag.
