Honoring the Cincinnati Museum Center on receiving a 2009 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Cincinnati Museum Center on being named a recipient of the 2009 National Medal for Museum and Library Service by the Institute of Museum and Library Services; and

       WHEREAS, Since its establishment, the Cincinnati Museum Center has experienced tremendous prosperity by providing a valuable service to local residents, schools, and organizations. A one-of-a-kind, multi museum complex housed in a National Historic Landmark, the Union Terminal, this fine museum has demonstrated exemplary commitment and has made many significant contributions to the community, and its dedication to the betterment of life in our society has been clearly evident; and

       WHEREAS, The noteworthy accomplishments of the Cincinnati Museum Center are attributable to the motivation and diligence of its president and chief executive officer, Douglass W. McDonald, and its hard-working staff and volunteers. Their efforts have earned the facility a well-deserved reputation for excellence and have distinguished it as a worthy enterprise; and

       WHEREAS, The Cincinnati Museum Center is deserving of high praise, for it has become one of the top cultural attractions in the Midwest, featuring the Cincinnati History Museum, the Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theatre, and the Cincinnati Historical Society Library & Archives, and it has been listed as the seventeenth most visited museum in the nation by Forbes Traveler Magazine. We are certain that in the years to come, this fine establishment will continue to display the same unwavering commitment to achievement for which it has become known; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Cincinnati Museum Center on its recent accolade and salute all those who have contributed to its success; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Cincinnati Museum Center.
