A RESOLUTION
Honoring Tom Otten
on receiving a 2009 Catholic Secondary Education Award
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Tom Otten as one of seven national recipients of the 2009 Catholic Secondary Education Award from the National Catholic Education Association; and |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to Tom Otten in recognition of the outstanding efforts he has displayed as principal of Elder High School. A 1964 EHS graduate, he joined the staff at his alma mater in 1968, serving as a math teacher, coach, business manager, and assistant principal before becoming principal in 1997, and during his tenure, he brought in cutting-edge technology, started the Honors Program, and led two successful capital campaigns; and |
| WHEREAS, Over the years, Tom Otten has certainly demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has displayed a genuine commitment to attaining the myriad goals of the school in a skillful and professional manner, and he is truly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, Throughout his career in the field of education, Tom Otten has supported countless students in their scholastic endeavors and has helped to nurture within them a desire for academic excellence. Willingly giving of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, he has earned the respect and gratitude of his colleagues, his community, and, most importantly, his students, and we applaud him on his exemplary efforts; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Tom Otten on his recent accolade and salute him as one of Ohio's finest educators; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Tom Otten. |
