A RESOLUTION
Honoring Henry L. Meyer III as a recipient of
the 2009 Humanitarian Award from the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Henry L. Meyer III on being presented with a 2009 Humanitarian Award by the American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland; and |
WHEREAS, The Humanitarian Award is given to individuals who embody the spirit of the American Red Cross through their contributions to the welfare and quality of life of the residents of Greater Cleveland, and this prestigious honor is a fitting tribute to Henry Meyer. Joining the predecessor of KeyCorp in 1972, he was elected chief executive officer and chairman of the board in 2001, and he has actively encouraged community involvement through charitable contributions, employee volunteerism, and civic leadership. Over the years, he has served on the boards of such organizations as the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education, ideastream, the United Way of Greater Cleveland, University School, the Greater Cleveland Partnership, University Hospitals Health System, Inc., University Hospitals of Cleveland, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and he is deserving of high praise; and |
WHEREAS, Henry Meyer is truly a remarkable man, for he has combined civic concern and dedication with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the Greater Cleveland area. Through his unfaltering devotion to service and achievement, he has distinguished himself as a conscientious and hard-working Ohioan, and we are certain that he will continue to display the same unwavering commitment to excellence for which he has become known; and |
WHEREAS, Willingly giving of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, Henry Meyer has striven to better the world around him, and through his generous contributions, he has earned the respect and esteem of all who know him. We are proud to note that it is through the unceasing efforts of people such as he that Ohio has gained a reputation as a state whose residents are responsive to the needs of their communities; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Henry L. Meyer III on his recent accolade and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Henry L. Meyer III. |
