Honoring Dr. E. Gordon Gee
as Time magazine's Best College President.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Dr. E. Gordon Gee on being ranked first on Time magazine's list of 10 Best College Presidents; and |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious distinction is a fitting tribute to Gordon Gee in recognition of the outstanding efforts he has displayed as president of The Ohio State University from 1990 to 1998 and again since 2007. Among his endeavors, he has been instrumental in streamlining OSU's liberal arts colleges, creating two centers to help combat global poverty and hunger, collaborating with Ohio's largest private research facility, changing the quarterly system to a semester schedule, and freezing tuition for in-state students for the third consecutive year, as well as providing training for Columbus public school teachers and helping to revitalize local low-income neighborhoods; and |
| WHEREAS, Gordon Gee is truly a remarkable individual, for he has combined civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the State of Ohio. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has displayed a genuine commitment to attaining the myriad goals of the university in a skillful and professional manner, and he is certainly deserving of high praise; and |
| WHEREAS, Willingly giving of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, Gordon Gee has earned the respect and admiration of many, and we applaud him on his exemplary efforts. We are certain that in the years to come, he will continue to display the same unwavering commitment to excellence for which he has become known; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Dr. E. Gordon Gee on his recent accolade and salute him as one of Ohio's finest educational administrators; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. E. Gordon Gee. |
