Honoring Dr. John Parcell
as the 2009 Ohio Professor of the Year.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Dr. John Parcell on being named the 2009 Ohio Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education; and |
| WHEREAS, John Parcell's impressive credentials readily confirm how very deserving he is of this tribute, which acknowledges his exceptional work as a music professor at Sinclair Community College. Few can rival either his excellence in the classroom or the intensity of his allegiance to this fine academic institution, and understandably, he has won a host of admirers; and |
| WHEREAS, Also an accomplished musician and composer, John Parcell is the recipient of various accolades, including a Certificate of Merit from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Those who have been privileged to know him professionally attest to his extraordinary vision and vitality, and he can be proud that his unflagging commitment has inspired many of his colleagues to dedicate themselves similarly; and |
| WHEREAS, Our society needs educators who strive to instill in their students a love of learning, an appetite for discovery, and even a new way of looking at the world. By so earnestly pursuing these worthy objectives, John Parcell has gained the respect of the entire community; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Dr. John Parcell as the 2009 Ohio Professor of the Year and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Dr. John Parcell. |
