Honoring Derek Edgington as a National 4-H Champion.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Derek Edgington on winning the small engine class of the 2009 National 4-H Science and Engineering Competition at Purdue University; and

       WHEREAS, Derek Edgington is worthy of recognition, for he has demonstrated remarkable diligence and enthusiasm, as well as an unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of 4-H. At this year's National 4-H Science and Engineering Competiton, he won first place in the small engine class, and we applaud him on his tremendous efforts; and

       WHEREAS, Also winning the small engine class at the 2009 Pickaway County and Ohio State fairs, Derek Edgington can be justifiably proud of his accomplishments, as they reflect the extra effort he has devoted to his endeavors, as well as his willingness to strive to produce superior results. A sophomore at Logan Elm High School and a member of the Country Clovers 4-H Club for eight years, he has demonstrated exceptional perseverance, initiative, and ability in attaining his goals; and

       WHEREAS, 4-H plays a vital role in the total education of young people, for it is through such worthwhile programs that the value of hard work is taught and an opportunity is afforded to develop good leadership skills. It is certainly encouraging to know that the future of Ohio agriculture lies, to a large extent, in the capable hands of conscientious individuals such as Derek Edgington; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Derek Edgington on his personal success and salute him as one of Ohio's finest young citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Derek Edgington.
