Honoring Diana K. Ready as a 2009 World Senior Olympic Games Champion.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Diana K. Ready on her exemplary performance at the 2009 World Senior Olympic Games; and

       WHEREAS, Diana Ready's accomplishments are truly noteworthy, for she has clearly demonstrated her talent and perseverance, as well as her mental and physical fortitude as a cyclist. At the 2009 World Senior Olympic Games, she and her teammates, Graham Johnson and Harlan Van Blaricum, placed first in the team triathlon, setting a new course record, and she placed third in the individual triathlon. In addition, she placed first in the uphill, downhill, and cross country mountain biking races and third in the 20K, fourth in the 50K, fifth in criterium, and seventh in the Up Mountain Challenge in road bike racing. Indeed, she has exemplified all of the characteristics that are essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including courage, integrity, and an innate sense of the principles of good sportsmanship; and

       WHEREAS, By developing such remarkable prowess, Diana Ready has earned the appreciation of her fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even her most determined rivals. Also during 2009, she placed tenth, eleventh, twelfth, and fourteenth in road cycling racing and seventh in triatholon at the National Senior Olympic Games and earned five gold medals at the State Senior Olympic Games, and her outstanding record of achievement stands as a hallmark worthy of emulation. Over the years, she has inspired countless individuals to excel in numerous areas of endeavor; and

       WHEREAS, Cycling is an event that requires exceptional stamina and natural ability, and Diana Ready is to be commended for her commitment to this demanding activity. In attaining her athletic goals, she has certainly distinguished herself as a true champion; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Diana K. Ready on her personal success and salute her as a fine Ohioan; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Diana K. Ready.
