Honoring Ronda Hartman Fergus for outstanding service to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Ronda Hartman Fergus for her service as a commissioner with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio; and

       WHEREAS, Throughout her distinguished career, Ronda Fergus has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing her duties and fulfilling her responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. An attorney, she joined the staff of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in 1980, and she served in such roles as administrative law judge and chief of the telecommunications staff in the legal and utilities departments before being appointed a commissioner in 1995 and reappointed in 2000, 2005, and 2007. During her tenure, she was instrumental in the development of competitive electric, natural gas, and telecommunications markets in Ohio, and she has served on state and national task forces to aid in competition for e-commerce, broadband, emergency 9-1-1, and local telephone; and

       WHEREAS, Ronda Fergus is a remarkable individual, combining civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the State of Ohio. Always sincere and energetic in her approach to her work, she has given generously of her time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and

       WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise Ronda Fergus has shown in her endeavors have earned her the respect of all those with whom she has been associated. Indeed, she has the satisfaction of knowing that she has provided a valuable service to the state and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Ronda Hartman Fergus on her exemplary service and salute her as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Ronda Hartman Fergus.
