Recognizing the Governor's Thirtieth Annual Holocaust Commemoration,
April 14, 2010.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio take this opportunity to recognize the Governor's Thirtieth Annual Holocaust Commemoration, April 14, 2010; and |
WHEREAS, Observed on April 14, 2010, the Governor's Thirtieth Annual Holocaust Commemoration coincides with the Days of Remembrance, to be held April 11-18. These events provide an opportunity for the residents of the State of Ohio to remember and honor the Jews and other minorities who were systematically persecuted in Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. The Holocaust, which resulted in the murder of more than six million people, will forever be a warning of the dangers of hatred, bigotry, racism, and prejudice; and |
WHEREAS, As the number of Holocaust survivors and liberators decreases, it becomes imperative for other generations to bear witness to and protect against atrocities such as those committed by the Nazis. Indeed, we must remain eternally vigilant against all forms of tyranny; and |
WHEREAS, As we join in these services, let us remember that countless individuals suffered the horrors of the Holocaust, yet somehow survived. This message about the triumph of the human spirit stands as a testament that tyranny shall never prevail; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize the Governor's Thirtieth Annual Holocaust Commemoration,
April 14, 2010, and urge all Ohioans to participate in this solemn observance; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly authenticated copies of this Resolution to the Governor's Office, the Ohio Jewish Communities Government Affairs Committee, and to the news media of Ohio. |
