A RESOLUTION
Honoring Frances Winters Brookings
on receiving a Congressional Gold Medal.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Frances Winters Brookings, as a member of the Women Airforce Service Pilots, on receiving a Congressional Gold Medal; and |
WHEREAS, Established by Congress in 1776, the Congressional Gold Medal is the nation's highest civilian award authorized by the federal legislature. By recognizing Frances Winters Brookings as one of the recipients of this distinction, we extol her outstanding record of patriotism; and |
WHEREAS, As a member of the WASPs and a licensed pilot, Frances Winters Brookings set aside all personal considerations for the greater good of society during World War II. We take this opportunity to reflect on her dutiful service, and her selfless example will continue to enrich the lives of everyone with whom she is associated; and |
WHEREAS, It is imperative that we openly acknowledge our debt to those who bore our country's standard with courage, dignity, and decency through their military service. In every respect, Frances Winters Brookings has behaved in an exemplary manner, and her distinguished record of attainment is likely to impel others both to re-examine their own identities as American citizens and to reflect more conscientiously on our incomparable freedoms and solemn responsibilities; therefore be it |
RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute Frances Winters Brookings for her admirable military service; and be it further |
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Frances Winters Brookings. |
