A RESOLUTION
Honoring The University of Findlay men's basketball team
as 2009 NCAA Division II National Basketball Champion.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to The University of Findlay men's basketball team on winning the 2009 NCAA Division II National Basketball Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, Each member of The University of Findlay men's basketball team is a tremendous athlete, combining personal ability and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship. With unfaltering dedication, the Oilers have worked diligently to improve their talents on the court, and as a result, they defeated a tough Cal Poly Pomona team with the score of 56-53 to secure this year's prestigious NCAA Division II National Basketball Championship title and finish the season with a perfect 36-0 record; and |
| WHEREAS, The Oilers are to be applauded, for throughout their triumphant season, they have epitomized the speed, agility, stamina, and skill that befit top competitors. Their victories over a host of talented opponents underscore the athletic prowess and indomitable spirit of every member of the squad, and it is no surprise that their maturity and determination have earned them so many admirers; and |
| WHEREAS, The Oilers' accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of athletic competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their families, their school, their community, and their coaches. The success of any athletic endeavor depends largely on the ability of the coaches to provide both guidance and inspiration, and in leading their team to victory, Coach Ron Niekamp and his assistants have not only helped each athlete to develop his talents to the fullest but also instilled in each a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend The University of Findlay men's basketball team on an exceptional season and salute the players and coaches as fine citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The University of Findlay men's basketball team. |
