Honoring Cedar Point on its One Hundred Fortieth season.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Cedar Point on the opening of its One Hundred Fortieth season, May 16, 2009; and

       WHEREAS, Cedar Point is worthy of recognition, for it has provided many people with a venue filled with fun and excitement. A long-time industry leader in a variety of categories, this exemplary amusement park made history in 1989 with the opening of the Magnum XL-200, which became the first roller coaster to top two hundred feet in height while setting records for the longest vertical drop at one hundred ninety-four feet and eight inches and for the fastest speed at seventy-two miles per hour, and it has hosted 39,813,587 riders since its inception; and

       WHEREAS, The celebration of the One Hundred Fortieth season of Cedar Point and the Twentieth Anniversary of the Magnum XL-200 offers all those associated with the theme park a unique opportunity to reflect on the success of the past and to look with optimism to the future. As evidenced by the park's countless loyal and satisfied patrons, they have set a shining example that is worthy of emulation; and

        WHEREAS, Cedar Point has established a solid foundation of superior services and responsible business practices, gaining the international respect and admiration of its many enthusiasts who have entered its gates over the years. The management and employees of the park, both past and present, have distinguished themselves as conscientious and hard-working individuals; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Cedar Point on its One Hundred Fortieth season and salute it as one of the world's finest amusement parks; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Cedar Point.
