Representative Garrison 

Honoring Karissa Martin on her reign as Miss Ohio 2008.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:


       WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Karissa Martin on her contributions to the community as Miss Ohio 2008; and

       WHEREAS, A lovely young woman, Karissa Martin has become known as a personable and charming young woman, and her many special qualities have made her truly worthy of the title of Miss Ohio. Dedicated to educating youth about the dangers of skin cancer, she has partnered with the Healthy Ohioans Cancer Division, the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Project S.A.F.E.T.Y., and the American Cancer Society, and through her outstanding efforts, she has set an example for others to emulate; and

       WHEREAS, An honors student at West Liberty State College, where she is an Elbin Scholar, a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society, and the treasurer of the Nu Theta chapter of Chi Omega, Karissa Martin has served as an exceptional role model for young girls throughout the state. During her tenure as Miss Ohio, she has had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many, and she is deserving of the highest praise; and

       WHEREAS, In a society that attempts to teach the future leaders of our state and nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of individual effort, competitions such as the Miss Ohio USA contest are a vital educational tool. Through her participation in this noteworthy program, Karissa Martin has learned lessons of self-discipline, perseverance, and hard work that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her lifetime; therefore be it

       RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Karissa Martin for her efforts as Miss Ohio 2008 and salute her as a fine Ohioan; and be it further

       RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Karissa Martin.
