Senator Stewart 

Honoring the Ohio University marching band on being selected to perform in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Ohio University marching band on being chosen to perform in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, the members of the Ohio University marching band have displayed exceptional musical ability, remarkable confidence, and tremendous discipline, and consequently, they have been invited to take part in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Under the capable guidance of their director, this talented group of students has become known as one of the finest bands in Ohio, and they are deserving of high praise; and

       WHEREAS,  Participation in a school band provides a unique opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to enjoy a special camaraderie while learning the true value of perseverance and cooperation. Over the years, the Ohio University marching band has excelled in its endeavors, and all those who have been involved with the program are to be commended for their exemplary performances; and

       WHEREAS,  Music is an integral component of our heritage, helping people to communicate across national, cultural, and social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences in a meaningful, shared experience. The members of the Ohio University marching band have imparted the richness and beauty of music to citizens throughout the area, and they have set an example worthy of emulation; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Ohio University marching band for exemplary achievement and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Ohio University marching band.
