A RESOLUTION
Honoring Kathy East as the Ohio Library Council's 2009 Hall of Fame Librarian.
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Kathy East on being named the 2009 Hall of Fame Librarian by the Ohio Library Council; and |
| WHEREAS, By receiving this prestigious distinction, Kathy East has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to her profession at the local, state, and national levels. A former elementary school teacher, she served in various capacities with the Oak Park Public and Columbus Metropolitan libraries before becoming assistant director and head of children's services for the Wood County District Public Library, a post she held from 1988 to 2009, and during her tenure, she mentored numerous staff members, made presentations at state and national conferences, and taught at Kent State University and Owens Community College. In addition, she was involved with such professional organizations as the Ohio Library Council, the American Library Association, the Association for Library Service to Children, and the International Federation of Library Associations; and |
| WHEREAS, Demonstrating a sincere concern for the future of library service in Ohio, Kathy East has given back far more than she has gleaned, and her selfless efforts stand as the hallmark of responsible citizenship. Through her decisive leadership and unwavering dedication to excellence, she has certainly distinguished herself as a conscientious and hard-working Ohioan; and |
| WHEREAS, Kathy East's exceptional record of personal and professional achievement merits praise, and she has inspired countless individuals to excel in various areas of endeavor. The appreciation and esteem she has earned over the years are clearly evident, and her accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on her but also on her family and her community; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute Kathy East on her recent accolade and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kathy East. |
