A RESOLUTION



Senators Wagoner, Faber 

Honoring Judge Charles F. Kurfess as the recipient of the 2009 Ohio State Bar Foundation's Honorary Life Fellowship Award.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Honorable Charles F. Kurfess on being presented with the 2009 Honorary Life Fellowship Award by the Ohio State Bar Foundation; and

       WHEREAS,  A judge retired from the Wood County Court of Common Pleas, a former member and speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, and a past president of the National Legislative Conference, Charles Kurfess has also been involved with the boards of trustees of the Ohio Historical Society, Family Services of Northwest Ohio, the Citizens Council for Ohio Schools, and the Lakeside Association, and his deep sense of duty and adherence to the basic precepts of the law have justly merited him widespread respect and recognition. Throughout his distinguished career, he has demonstrated an unwavering faith in, and dedication to, the highest traditions of American jurisprudence; and

       WHEREAS,  Charles Kurfess' name has become synonymous with excellence, for he has fulfilled his myriad duties with the utmost integrity, sensitivity, and competence and has become legendary in his approach to difficult and challenging cases. The recipient of several accolades, including his most recent, the Ohio State Bar Foundation's Honorary Life Fellowship Award, he is deserving of high praise; and

       WHEREAS,  Charles Kurfess has given willingly of his time and energy far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society. His love for Ohio and his sincere desire to serve its people to the best of his ability have revealed him to be a truly concerned and responsible public servant, and we are proud to note that it is through the efforts of conscientious individuals such as he that our state and nation continue to grow and prosper; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud the Honorable Charles F. Kurfess on his exemplary record of service and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Honorable Charles F. Kurfess.
