A RESOLUTION
In memory of the Honorable Frederick H. Deering.

WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the Honorable Frederick H. Deering in their bereavement; and

WHEREAS,  Frederick Deering's zealous love of life and his selfless concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and as a leading citizen. A farmer and the founder of Deering Farms, he passed numerous bills and amendments as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for twenty years, established the Erie Regional Planning Commission and the Erie County Landfill as a commissioner for Erie County, and helped develop a twelve-grade system as a member of the Perkins School Board, and he also served as a commissioner for the Erie MetroParks, which he was instrumental in creating; and

WHEREAS,  A man of exceptional concern and commitment, Frederick Deering achieved a praiseworthy record of service to the community. He volunteered to do landscaping at the Bowling Green State University Firelands McBride Arboretum and advocated for the Huron River Greenway, and he was a member of various organizations, including the Erie County Democratic Party, Friends of Erie MetroParks, the Ohio Farmers Union, Habitat for Humanity, the Men's Garden Club of Erie County, and St. John's United Church of Christ. His untiring efforts earned him many state industry awards and accolades from such groups as the Ohio Agricultural, Perkins School, and Monroeville School halls of fame; and

WHEREAS,  Frederick Deering's efforts will certainly live beyond him, and he will long be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering commitment to service. The warmth and understanding he so readily extended to others will stand as a testament to his personal character, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him, including his four children, Daryl, Diane, Steve and Brian, his four stepchildren, John, Trisha, Ron, and the late Cindy, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to a remarkable man, the Honorable Frederick H. Deering; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of the Honorable Frederick H. Deering.
