S. R. No. 243

A RESOLUTION

Senators Hughes, Miller, R., Goodman

Honoring The Ohio State University synchronized swimming team as the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Overall National Champion.
WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate The Ohio State University synchronized swimming team on winning the 2010 U.S. Collegiate Overall National Championship; and

WHEREAS,  A remarkable group of athletes, the members of The Ohio State University synchronized swimming team have combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish themselves as a truly exceptional squad. With admirable dedication, the Lady Buckeyes have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in synchronized swimming, and as a result, they won the team, trio, and duet routines and scored ninety-six points to secure this year's U.S. Collegiate Overall National Championship, their twenty-sixth such title in thirty-three seasons; and

WHEREAS,  The Lady Buckeyes' achievements and leadership are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the members, their families, their school, their community, and their coach. The success of any athletic endeavor depends largely on the ability of the coach to provide both guidance and inspiration, and in leading their team to victory, Coach Linda Lichter-Witter has not only helped each athlete to develop her talents to the fullest but also instilled in each a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and

WHEREAS,  With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to these fine athletes and their outstanding coach for a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have gained through participation in sports will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend The Ohio State University synchronized swimming team on its tremendous season and salute the members and coach as some of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to The Ohio State University synchronized swimming team.

I, Vincent L. Keeran, hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of Senate Resolution No. 243, adopted by the Ohio Senate, May 25, 2010.
