Senator Coughlin 

Honoring the Hudson Library and Historical Society on its One Hundredth Anniversary.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend the Hudson Library and Historical Society on the auspicious occasion of its One Hundredth Anniversary, celebrated September 11, 2010; and

       WHEREAS,  Recognition of this prestigious milestone is, indeed, a fitting tribute to the Hudson Library and Historical Society, for throughout its history, this fine institution has achieved a praiseworthy record of service to the area. Public libraries play a vital role in today's society, serving as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and ideas and providing a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and intellectual development for all individuals. The success of the Hudson Library and Historical Society is due not only to the hard work and commitment of its dedicated staff, including its director, E. Leslie Polott, but also to the continued support of the taxpayers who realize the important part a library plays in the well-being of a community; and

       WHEREAS,  Founded by Caroline Baldwin Babcock in 1910, the Hudson Library and Historical Society has fostered education, culture, and individual growth and achievement by providing a variety of innovative and beneficial programs and services. As a focal point for many community activities and as a valuable instrument for community improvement, the library has earned the respect and appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example of community service worthy of emulation; and

       WHEREAS,  As repositories for the best of our nation's intellectual endeavors, public libraries are vital to the preservation of our country's heritage, principles, and ideals. We are proud to note that it is through the efforts of institutions such as the Hudson Library and Historical Society that our state has maintained its reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to live and work; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Hudson Library and Historical Society on its One Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Hudson Library and Historical Society.
