A RESOLUTION
Honoring James G. Beasley for outstanding state service.
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to James G. Beasley for his service as director of the Ohio Department of Transportation; and |
| WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, James Beasley has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. The former proprietor of Beasley Engineer and Surveying, he worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and served as Brown County Deputy Engineer and then Brown County Engineer before being appointed director of the Ohio Department of Transportation in February 2007, and during his tenure, he helped revise ODOT's mission to include all modes of travel, from highway, railway, waterway, and transit to aviation, bicycle, and pedestrian. In addition, he ensured the integrity and ethics of the agency, modernized the department's viewpoint, and instilled fiscal accountability and restraint by cutting non-essential spending and finding new, more efficient protocols, which saved $180 million in fiscal year 2008; and |
| WHEREAS, James Beasley is a remarkable individual, combining civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the field of engineering. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has given generously of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and |
| WHEREAS, The enthusiasm and expertise James Beasley has shown in his endeavors have gained him the appreciation of all those with whom he has been associated. Indeed, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a vital service to the state and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud James G. Beasley on his exemplary service and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to James G. Beasley. |
