Honoring the Cleveland State University men's basketball team as the 2009 Horizon League Champion.
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Cleveland State University men's basketball team on winning the 2009 Horizon League Championship; and |
| WHEREAS, Each member of the Cleveland State University men's basketball team is a tremendous athlete, combining personal ability and competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship. With unfaltering dedication, the Vikings have worked diligently to improve their talents on the court, and as a result, they won the 2009 Horizon League Championship, qualified for the prestigious NCAA Tournament for the first time in twenty-three years, and finished the season with an admirable 26-11 record; and |
| WHEREAS, The Vikings' accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of athletic competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their families, their school, their community, and their coaches. The success of any athletic endeavor depends largely on the ability of the coaches to provide both guidance and inspiration, and in leading their team to victory, Coach Gary Waters and his assistants have not only helped each athlete to develop his talents to the fullest but also instilled in each a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and |
| WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to these fine athletes and their outstanding coaches for a job well done. They are truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Cleveland State University men's basketball team on an exceptional season and salute the players and coaches as fine citizens; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Cleveland State University men's basketball team. |
