A RESOLUTION



Senator Stewart 

Honoring Colonel Jay E. Johnson on his appointment as commander.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Colonel Jay E. Johnson on being promoted to commander of the United States Marine Corps Headquarters and Service Battalion Base in Quantico, Virginia; and

       WHEREAS,  Jay Johnson is deserving of praise, for throughout his loyal service with the U.S. Marine Corps, he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to fulfilling his myriad duties with the utmost efficiency and competence. Enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1983, he has risen through the ranks to become a highly decorated and respected officer, and he has served in leadership roles during out-of-country tours of duty in Japan and in Iraq, supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom; and

       WHEREAS,  To his credit, Jay Johnson has given freely of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected. Indeed, he has certainly distinguished himself as a patriotic and hard-working Ohioan, and we applaud him on his efforts; and

       WHEREAS,  The heroic traditions of our armed forces are an important part of our country's heritage, and in striving to perpetuate and preserve this legacy, Jay Johnson has earned the respect of all those with whom he has served and the gratitude of Americans everywhere. As he assumes his new post, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a valuable service to our state and nation and has established a record of achievement that stands as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Colonel Jay E. Johnson on his recent promotion and extend sincere best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Colonel Jay E. Johnson.
