A RESOLUTION

Honoring Richard Erwin Masek on his retirement.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Richard Erwin Masek on the occasion of his retirement as associate director of the Ohio Legislative Service Commission; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout forty-two years of distinguished service with the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, Dick Masek has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to performing his duties and fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost efficiency and competence. Joining the agency as a legislative intern in 1967, he started as a full-time staff member in 1968 when he was assigned to cover the House Commerce and Labor Committee, soon becoming an expert in such areas as workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining, and prevailing wage. Promoted to a supervisory role in 1974, he reviewed bill drafts and research in subjects besides commerce and labor, including taxation, financial institutions, insurance, and housing, and he was named LSC's first associate director in 1991. In addition, he served as acting director of the Legislative Information Systems Office for nearly three years; and

       WHEREAS,  Dick Masek is a remarkable individual, combining civic concern with selfless initiative to become a dynamic leader in the State of Ohio. Among his endeavors, he is a certified swimming official for high school, collegiate, and USA Swimming meets, and he serves as an usher and tour guide at St. Joseph's Cathedral. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his work, he has given generously of his time and abilities far beyond what was required or expected and has displayed a genuine commitment to improving the quality of life in our society; and

       WHEREAS,  The enthusiasm and expertise Dick Masek has shown in his efforts have earned him the respect and appreciation of all those with whom he has worked. As he retires, he has the satisfaction of knowing that he has provided a vital service to the state and has established a record of personal and professional achievement that will stand as a hallmark for others to emulate; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Richard Erwin Masek on his retirement and salute him as one of Ohio's finest citizens; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Richard Erwin Masek.
