Senator Hughes 

Honoring the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band on being selected to participate in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band on being chosen to perform in the 2010 Tournament of Roses Parade; and

       WHEREAS,  Throughout long hours of practice and preparation, the members of the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band have displayed exceptional musical ability, remarkable confidence, and tremendous discipline, and as a result, they were selected to participate in the Rose Parade, the first blind marching band to be hosted at the event. Under the capable guidance of the OSSB co-directors, Carol Agler and Dan Kelley, this talented group of young people has become known as one of the finest high school bands in Ohio, and they are deserving of high praise; and

       WHEREAS,  Participation in a school band provides a unique opportunity for students to develop their musical skills and to enjoy a special camaraderie while learning the true value of perseverance and cooperation. Over the years, the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band has excelled in its endeavors, and all those who have been involved with the program are to be commended for their exemplary performances; and

       WHEREAS,  Music is an integral component of our heritage, helping people to communicate across national, cultural, and social barriers, as well as uniting performers and audiences in a meaningful, shared experience. The members of the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band have imparted the richness and beauty of music to citizens throughout the area, and they are worthy of recognition; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the Senate of the 128th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band on its recent achievement and salute its members as fine Ohioans; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution the Ohio State School for the Blind marching band.
