A RESOLUTION
Honoring the City of Westlake on its Two Hundredth Anniversary.
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to the City of Westlake on the occasion of its Two Hundredth Anniversary; and |
| WHEREAS, This is an auspicious milestone, and celebration is certainly in order. Incorporated as Dover Township in 1811, it was renamed to the Village of Westlake in 1940 and became the City of Westlake in 1957, and it has experienced dramatic growth and change. Commendably, even as its residents have exuberantly embraced the promise of a bright future, they have never relinquished their appreciation for the worthiest virtues of the past. The people of Westlake have nurtured a fresh perspective and a positive outlook that endear this distinctive place to all who know it well; and |
| WHEREAS, Each state depends on such vibrant, durable communities as Westlake for its own survival and stability. The city radiates vitality, optimism, and a charm all its own, and its schools, businesses, and civic organizations both embody and thrive upon the values of which our flag is an emblem; and |
| WHEREAS, America is only as strong as her individual communities, which are unique and which make a significant contribution to the culture of our state and nation. The Two Hundredth Anniversary of Westlake offers its citizens the opportunity to share their memories and experiences and to reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community, for they have built on the best traditions of the past to ensure a future filled with hope; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the City of Westlake on its Bicentennial and extend best wishes for ongoing peace and prosperity; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Westlake. |
