A RESOLUTION

In memory of Clarence Ellsworth Miller, Jr.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Clarence Ellsworth Miller, Jr., in their bereavement; and

       WHEREAS,  Clarence Miller's zealous love of life and his selfless concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and as a leading citizen. A former member of council and mayor of the City of Lancaster, he was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1967 to 1993, serving on several committees and subcommittees and as vice chairman of the Office of Technical Assessment and receiving a Treasury Watchdog Award every year of his tenure, and the exemplary political career of this dedicated and devoted public servant serves as an inspiration for others; and 

       WHEREAS,  A man of exceptional concern and commitment, Clarence Miller was a certified electrical engineer who worked for Columbia Gas and held several patents, and he was also involved with the National League of Cities, the Ohio Municipal League, the Mayors Association of Ohio, and the boards of directors of the local YMCA and Red Cross. His untiring efforts earned him many richly deserved accolades, including the naming of the Fairfield County Health Department building and the renaming of the Lancaster Post Office in his honor; and

       WHEREAS,  Clarence Miller's contributions to our state and nation will certainly live beyond him. The warmth and understanding he so readily extended to others will stand as a testament to his personal character, and he will be remembered fondly by all those who knew and loved him, including his two children, Ronald and Jacqueline, and his numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, and great-grandchildren; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, mourn the loss and salute the memory of Clarence Ellsworth Miller, Jr.; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Clarence Ellsworth Miller, Jr.
