A RESOLUTION
Honoring Steve Volk as the 2011 Outstanding Baccalaureate Colleges U.S. Professor of the Year.
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Steve Volk on being recognized as the 2011 Outstanding Baccalaureate Colleges U.S. Professor of the Year by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; and |
| WHEREAS, Steve Volk has been acknowledged by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching for his exceptional ingenuity, innovation, and enthusiasm. A professor of Latin American history and museum studies at Oberlin College, where he has taught for the past twenty-six years, he is the chairman of the college's Latin American Studies Committee and the founder and director of its Center for Teaching Innovation and Excellence; and |
| WHEREAS, Steve Volk has developed a variety of activities to help faculty members continually revitalize their teaching to enhance student learning, and he has worked diligently to channel the natural energy and curiosity of his pupils into meaningful inquiry, thereby helping them gain a better understanding of the complex world around them. By presenting lectures in an interesting and comprehensible manner, he has consistently inspired his students to excel; and |
| WHEREAS, Steve Volk has supported countless students in their scholastic endeavors and has helped to nurture within them a desire for academic excellence. Willingly giving of his time, energy, and abilities far beyond what was required or expected, he has gained the appreciation and gratitude of his colleagues, his community, and, most importantly, his students for his genuine love of teaching, and he is certainly deserving of high praise; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Steve Volk as the 2011 Outstanding Baccalaureate Colleges U.S. Professor of the Year and salute him as a fine Ohioan; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Steve Volk. |
