A RESOLUTION | Honoring Claudia Saunders on being named the 2011-2012 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year. |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to pay tribute to Claudia Saunders on being recognized as the 2011-2012 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year; and |
| WHEREAS, This accomplishment is truly noteworthy, for Claudia Saunders has clearly demonstrated her talent and perseverance, as well as her mental and physical fortitude as a long distance runner. This year's Division I State Champion, with a time of 18:04.50, and a senior with a 4.7 grade point average, she has exemplified all of the characteristics that are essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including courage, determination, and an innate sense of the principles of good sportsmanship, and she has been active with such organizations as the American Red Cross, the National Children's Leukemia Foundation, Spanish Honor Society, and National Honor Society; and |
| WHEREAS, In displaying such exceptional prowess as a member of the Princeton High School cross country team, Claudia Saunders has earned the appreciation of her fellow athletes, the devotion of countless fans, and the respect of even her most determined rivals. Competition in athletics has enabled her to learn much about dedication and self-discipline, and we take this opportunity to acknowledge her exemplary record of achievement; and |
| WHEREAS, Long distance running is an event that requires exceptional stamina and natural ability, and Claudia Saunders is to be commended for her commitment to this demanding activity. In attaining her athletic goals, she has consistently exhibited the skill and integrity that are the hallmarks of a true champion; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Claudia Saunders as the 2011-2012 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year and extend best wishes for continued success; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Claudia Saunders. |
