A RESOLUTION



Representatives Weddington, Heard 

In memory of Alex A. Boudreaux.
       WHEREAS,  The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Alex A. Boudreaux and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and

       WHEREAS,  Alex Boudreaux's zealous love of life and his selfless concern for the welfare of others distinguished him as an outstanding human being and as a leading citizen. He was the first African-American air traffic controller in the United States, having worked at Port Columbus International Airport until his retirement in 1977, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving as a pilot with the famed Tuskegee Airmen. Alex Boudreaux was a dedicated and devoted individual whose exemplary career serves as an inspiration for others; and 

       WHEREAS,  A man of exceptional concern and commitment, Alex Boudreaux also achieved a praiseworthy record of service as an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Motts Military Museum, the Ohio Museum of Flight, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion 40 and 8. His untiring efforts earned him many richly deserved accolades, including being inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame in 2005 and receiving the Congressional Gold Medal in 2007; and

       WHEREAS,  Alex Boudreaux had given generously of his energy and abilities to all those who knew and loved him, including his wife, the late Mary, his three children, John, Anita, and the late Charles, and his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The warmth and understanding he readily extended to those around him will stand as a testament to his personal character; therefore be it

       RESOLVED,  That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of Alex A. Boudreaux; and be it further

       RESOLVED,  That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Alex A. Boudreaux.
