Honoring Kate Peterson Abiad on setting a new record for career wins at Cleveland State University.
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Kate Peterson Abiad on winning her one hundred eighteenth game as head coach of the Cleveland State University women's basketball team and setting a new school record for career victories; and |
| WHEREAS, The success of any athletic endeavor depends largely on the ability of coaches to provide both guidance and inspiration to the team members. Commencing her career as an assistant coach at Indiana University, Kate Peterson Abiad served at Eastern Illinois University and the University of Wisconsin before being named head coach of the Cleveland State University women's basketball team in 2003, and the enthusiasm and generosity she has shown in her endeavors has gained her the appreciation and esteem of all those with whom she has worked; and |
| WHEREAS, As a result of her exceptional coaching over the last eight years, Kate Peterson Abiad contributed to the Cleveland State University women's basketball program by reaching a milestone of one hundred eighteen career wins with a victory over a strong Milwaukee team. In addition, Coach Abiad has led the Vikings to two Horizon League tournament titles and two National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament appearances; and |
| WHEREAS, With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay tribute to Kate Peterson Abiad and her fine players for a job well-done. The maturity and experience the Vikings have gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it |
| RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 129th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Kate Peterson Abiad on her success and extend best wishes for the future; and be it further |
| RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to Kate Peterson Abiad. |
